Open Cast: Grown Up and Independent

Open Cast has been providing quality training and support for young people from across the Borough for 10 years. Now we are proposing establishing an Independent School - operating from September 2012.

We'll still work with young people who don't thrive in mainstream, we'll still provide quality training and support but as an Independent School we'll be able to have young people on roll, full time.

For us this means we'll be able to build stronger relationships with our pupils and our pupils will be able develop a stronger sense of belonging - this will add up to more positive outcomes for us all.

We have the support of the Authority and we're looking for the support of Schools and partners too.

As an Independent School we can offer you a truly Positive Alternative to Exclusion - pupils who can't do well at your school could be fully on roll at Open Cast instead - freeing you from the responsibility and the cost of arranging alternative provision.

In addition, we'll be offering temporary referrals for pupils who may be able to respond to a short, intensive course and get back on track.
